A little easier to hit, so I'll take it, as we're learning

We're brand new to pickleball, so we figured, why not try out these slightly larger balls to see if it'd be easier to play (it always worked when we were kids, larger balls, easier to hit). Sure enough, the concept holds here too. They aren't so much larger that we're hitting everything in sight (gaining false confidence), but possibly just large enough to make more shot and send the ones we are hitting towards our intended target a little better. I mean, as a newbie, this is hard to judge, but if I had to choose between these balls and the ones that came with the paddles to play with as we learn. Well, we're exclusively playing with these for the time being. Now if only Franklin could invent a ball that would bounce a quieter, so we don't have to feel so remorseful about the noise pollution emanating from the courts, holy cow is this a loud sport, and the sound really travels (we can hear it upwards of a half-mile away on the walking trail).

Slightly Larger and EASIER to Use

The key facts to know here are that these are VERY SLIGHTLY larger than competition pickleballs, but it's almost impossible to notice the difference when you hold them in your hand. So they're not beach ball sized or anything like that. But that little bit of size difference makes them easier to train with and play with in friendly games.Come in a three pack and make a difference for beginners. Great balls with plenty of bounce.

Smaller and faster than regular x-40 balls help you up your game

I teach a small pickleball class and we tried these out to improve hand speed. Because they are smaller in size and have smaller holes, they go a little bit faster than the regular Franklin X-40s. I felt like I didn't notice it very much until we went back to the regular balls and I felt like everything was a lot slower (which was good). Based on the half hour we used them, I feel like if we continue to use them in drills, it will help improve hand speed and paddle placement and make us feel like superheroes when we go back to the regular balls.

Sometimes helpful

These TRAINING pickleballs were interesting to use. I tested them in on-the-court warm-up, and even though they're only 5mm smaller than a regular pickleball (see picture), there's a noticeable difference in how you have to handle them in order to get the desired result. They are slightly lighter than a regular pickleball, so if you use the same amount of power, the ball travels differently. I ended up over-hitting them until I got used to the differences. The person I was hitting back and forth with noticed the difference too and didn't care for it.The holes are a little oddly-spaced due to the reduced size, but the balls still seem to fly normally. These balls wear decently well, and I can definitely see them being useful in some situations, but overall, they just weren't useful to me in my particular situation.

Nice training tool

The balls are slightly smaller than normal, so when you go to the courts it is a little easier to play with a regulation size ball. Same material as a normal Franklin ball.

They Seem To Speed Up The Game A Bit, Not Sure If They Are Really Helpful

I got the smaller version of these Franklin Pickleball balls. I've been playing pickleball for a bit over a year and this is the first time I've used anything other than a standard indoor or outdoor ball.Aside from seeming to speed up the game a bit, do these make much of a difference or help for "training", I'm not sure about that.Franklin does make high quality pickleball balls and these are the same quality you've come to expect from Franklin. If you think these will be helpful and improve your game then you might want to order them. I'm not convinced that will be the case for me but I'll put one in the bag and if someone is interested in using it then we'll hit it around for a while.

Good for Kids

I picked these up because my five year old likes to play pickleball in the driveway with us. I was surprised at first because I expected them to be noticeably bigger than a standard pickleball, but they really aren't that much bigger. That said, they do seem to make it easier for the little ones to play and make more consistent contact. I think they'd also be a great option for someone just learning the game.

Easy to see and bigger but not too big

After I ordering these I started second guessing myself if these might be those giant whiffle balls but they are actually not a ton bigger than standard size pickle balls. They are big enough to make it easier for beginners but still be able to play the game without major adjustment. Franklin is smarter than me and probably thought about that aspect when making the training balls. You wouldn't want them to be too much different or they would be a pretty poor training aid. I definitely recommend these for helping teach people with no racquet sport experience.

Good for adults too

I feel silly using these sometimes as an adult, but if we're just having a friendly game or teaching someone the game for the first time, they're great. They're not huge, by any means, but the larger size is easier to hit and track.

Great for Learning the Ropes!

I am new to the sport and got these to get a better feel for how the game works. They are much easier to see than many balls, even at dusk hours, which makes learning easier. Also, they are not as noisy as some of the other balls in play, which is important if you have houses nearby the courts. The quality is good, and they so far have lasted me a few sessions with no issues. I will update if this changes, but I expect them to last for as long as I need them.I would recommend these to anyone picking up the sport like me and looking to get a feel for the game.

Smaller balls that play and bounce well

Two of these balls weighed 23 grams and one weighed 22.5 grams. We drilled with these balls and they were easy to see and hit. They are definitely smaller than a regulation pickleball ball but I'll have to see if they improve my ball tracking skills. No one in our group had any difficulty practicing with these balls. You would have no problem transitioning to regulation balls. I think this is more of a novelty item to have.

Great Practice Item

As an avid pickleball player, I’m always looking for quality equipment that will help me elevate my game. These pickleballs meet that requirement. They’re a bit oversized, which helps when you want to work on specific parts of your game. It helps to start with a bigger ball, such as this, then to be able to adjust to a slightly smaller ball when getting out and playing against other people. These balls have good bounce, are durable, and again, the large size is great for practice. I definitely recommend these practice balls.

Good Pickleballs, but For Training Only??

I didn't realize these were just slightly smaller than regulation size. Honestly, I'm not sure why they even make different sizes. In any case, I can't find any difference when actually playing with them. If you are a super pro or something you may notice a difference I suppose. Also, you probably cannot use these in any official capacity like a regulation tournament or something given their slightly smaller size.
