I'm a 3.5 player who has played with several JOOLAs and other brands. This paddle is 12mm (great for power) but only 7oz. After playing with Hyperion 2 and 3, this thing get some serious whip because you don't need a lot of energy to move the 7 oz. and 12mm. I love the feel of the grip--it's definitely more "spongy" than high end JOOLAs have been. The surface area is quite similar too the high-end JOOLAs--see picture. The handle is definitely skinner than most paddles I have used, allowing one to get more whip. The surface has a similar grit to what I feel on the Hyperion 3 pictured and more than the Hyper. 2. The lower weight is offset by a pretty good grit on the paddle face. Those that have said you lose spin--I disagree, because you can "cut" faster with this light and thin paddle with its gritty surface. I think this paddle would be very well-suited to those players that have good control and want to speed up more and of course anyone that just prefers a lighter paddle. The edging was typical and very tight. I do think Franklin--known for cheap recreational game toys, has a chance to finally be premium here and they deliver this high-end paddle in a cheap plastic covering with no case--c'mon--foam is cheap!
This is a good quality paddle. It is a lightweight (very light), balanced paddle. The paddle has a gritty texture which provides control and allows me to add spin to my balls. Due to its lightness and its thinness (12 mm), this is a great power paddle. The grip is padded which makes it comfortable. The paddle is well built (it’s solid). I have been having fun playing with this paddle.
It would be nice if the paddle comes with a case especially with the price point. I ordered the Tempo paddle which has the traditional paddle shape. The sweet spot is slightly larger which is good for beginners like myself. Good control , lightweight and nice grip. I like it so far.
I started pickleball this year and am still very new to the game. My son plays with his friends much more often and is already asking to borrow this racket because of its feel. The club paddles he uses are heavier, being fiberglass, and this lighter paddle gives you a better feel for each hit. While my son already has a case for paddles, it should include a protective sleeve cover. The grip feels grounded, with a little cushioned give, and won't be launching out of your hand even when sweating. 4/5
Light paddle lacks power. You will have the fastest hands out there and a solid sweet spot. Franklin has a good track record of quality paddles that mostly well balanced but head heavy. This is so light you won’t feel that. Won a few medals with this and won’t ever forget how it punched above its weight.
You always hear of the big name paddle companies but Franklin actually makes a really solid paddle. It has a lot of control and a decent amount of spin. I wouldn’t say the power is as high as my other paddles but for the price I don’t think you can beat this paddle aside from maybe a Vatic. The sweet spot is huge and I think the build quality is on par with some of the bigger companies. Well done. 5/5 stars for me.
I just joined the craze and started playing pickleball. I love to have the high quality things and this paddle fits nicely. Grip is good and has good balance. This is a lighter racket which I like and it still provides a powerful punch. This is a pretty expensive paddle for an entry level person, but like I said, I like nice things. I highly recommend.
I could not do any precision move with this paddle.
This is surely a great addition for a beginner like me. I simply loved it. I can say that this is a very light and easy to use paddle for pickle ball enhancing your game experience. I love the feel of the grip--it's definitely more "spongy" than my last one.Overall great!
Enjoying this racket: Plays very well, give great control/spin on the ball. The only negative: I was expecting at this price it not to have a plastic edge strip, but it does. So that 1 in 100 shots where you get the ball right at the edge send it off uncontrolled.
The Franklin Sports Pro Pickleball Paddle – FS Tour Featherweight Series offers an impressive playing experience, especially for those who play pickleball frequently. Unlike many cheaper paddles on the market, this one provides a noticeably superior feel and performance. The paddle is well-balanced, allowing for more control and precision in each shot. Additionally, its raw carbon fiber surface and polymer core enhance ball grip, making a significant difference in gameplay. The handle size fits comfortably, and the grip feels secure, preventing slipping during intense matches. After several months of use, it has held up exceptionally well, showing no signs of wear, which makes it a great long-term investment.Pros:Balanced feel, enhancing control and precision during playRaw carbon fiber surface offers a great grip on the ball for better spinComfortable handle size with a grip that feels secure and prevents slippingLightweight design, making it easy to maneuver without sacrificing durabilityHolds up well with regular use over several monthsCons:Higher price point compared to entry-level paddles, which might not suit casual playersLimited availability at times, making it challenging to find in stockNot the best option for beginners who might not yet appreciate the difference in paddle quality
I'm a 4.0 player who typically plays with 16mm all-court paddles. I thought I'd give this Franklin FS Tour paddle a shot since it is so different than what I usually play with - and it is quite different. The overall paddle construction is pretty good. It's an attractive paddle with the typical raw carbon face. The while handle, edge guard, and lettering looks great and the paddle looks impressive. The face feels like the typical raw carbon surface you find on many paddles now-days. It generates plenty of spin as would be expected. I was expecting this paddle to have a ton of pop and it does have a bit more reaction when blocking but I was able to keep my dinks and blocks mostly under control. The light weight does take a lot away from the paddles power. I don't have like it has anywhere near the same plow through as my typical paddles and I was muscling my shots a lot more. It also seemed that the sweet spot was a bit on the small side.I really didn't care for the handle. It's very small. Of course you can always apply more over-grips. The worst part is that it transfers a lot of vibration back to your hand and wrist. It doesn't have that pillowy plushness that you get in thicker, softer paddles. I could feel the fatigue in my wrist after a couple games. If you're looking for a super-low swing weight paddle that looks great and doesn't sacrifice too much control this paddle could be for you - and there are not a lot of other paddles in the same weight class. If you can handle a few more ounces in the hand or don't really know what you want in a paddle and looking for something more balanced then there are better options, especially for this price.
This is one of the lightest paddles I've used and takes some getting used to for me. Overall, it is a really nice paddle but needed a few tweaks for me. (Don't let the tweaks sway you the wrong way though). It's super light which may impact spin and your typical motion. Easily solved by adding some weights in the right places. The handle is very slim. My hands aren't overly beefy but I needed a bit more wrap to make the paddle "feel" right in my hand. Just enough to make it more noticeable and not leave me with the sense that I may send the paddle flying.Overall, it has nice balance, great weight (better with personal adjustments), and a nice fit/ feel. The tweaks are likely things you would do with any paddle. Build quality appears high and I'm enjoying the paddle.
I have been playing for a few hours with this paddle over the past week. Here are my thoughts. I am a 3.5-4 level player, aggressive hitter and also put a lot of topspin in my shots.1. Overall, feel and quality of the paddle is good. It looks good too.2. This is my first time playing with a Franklin paddle (more used to the balls they make) and I am generally impressed. I was able to get going almost instantly and continued to play with it.3. This paddle is really light. Almost so much so I might add some weights to balance it out.4. It is 12mm thick which is great, makes it really light but also impacts its spin. The ball does not spin as much as I would want it to.5. Power is really solid.6. The grip is not enough. I had to double grip it to have a decent game.Overall, good paddle - needs to be a tad heavier with a thicker grip and maybe more texture on the surface to give it some spin.
Its lightweight design, combined with a raw carbon fiber surface, provides exceptional control and power. The 12mm polymer core ensures a solid and responsive feel during play. Approved by USA Pickleball, this paddle meets high standards for quality and performance. The sleek white design adds a professional touch. Highly recommend this paddle for its superior craftsmanship and playability!
This paddle is incredible in every way, but let me break that down a little bit further. First off, I am a tennis player of more than a decade and I recently got into pickleball. While I am new to the sport I am very familiar with racket sports and so I picked pickleball up more quickly than a total newbie. The grip on this paddle is unlike any other I have used so far. It is incredibly comfortable and really fits in the hand much more nicely than other paddles I have used. Time will tell if this stands up, but out of the packaging I love the grip. The weight is also significantly different than other paddles. This thing is light as a feather at around 7 and a half ounces and you do notice the difference in the couple of ounces versus a wood paddle. I can whip this thing around and create a lot of power than I didn't think was possible with a pickleball. You still aren't going to hit at mach speed, but there is a noticeable increase in power. Similarly, it is easier to get some wicked spin with this. I can slice at a faster rate which gives me more spin on a ball that I can drop right on the other side of the net.The build quality is also unmatched with a gripped carbon fiber surface all over the paddle and a resin cast frame that feels incredibly solid. The elongated paddle is preferable for former tennis players like myself if you want to try a 2-handed backhand. I can't wait to break this paddle in with more games but so far it is fantastic!
The Featherweight Tempo is a nice lightweight paddle. The balance in the hand isn't as nice as some of the more expensive paddles I've tried but it still feels good. The balance actually might help with power a little bit though.
I literally felt like some type of celebrity when I busted this paddle out at the club courts the other day. At first, just a few people walked up to me to check it out, but within a few minutes, my new paddle and I were the center of attention and showered with compliments. Of course, there are always the few people who are jealous and stare as they walk by and say nothing (aka the haters). I can't wait to see what they show up with next week...This paddle arrived quick, but I was suprised by the level of basic the packaging was. It came in a bubble wrap sleeve- that's all. I wasn't expecting a cover (although it would have been nice) but I would have at least thought this would have come in a box or something. With that said, just note that you JUST get the paddle. No accessories, no case. No box. Just a paddle in bubble wrap. Now, this is beautiful. It is simple, classic and classy. At first, I thought I would miss my loud, palm tree paddle, but I absolutely love the understated elegance of this. It's very clean and really *chefs kiss*.The handle feels incredible! It is super soft/padded, but has a fantastic grip to it. I've been having some issues with my hands lately, so I really appreciate how soft and comfortable this feels in hand.I also REALLY love and appreciate the super lightweight! Oh man! I'm able to whip this paddle around NICE without getting fatigued.I'm able to get some pretty explosive power with this paddle, which I really lacked in my old one. It's interesting because I was always told (and believed up until this point) that you usually have to choose between power and control with your paddle, but this gets VERY high scores from me on both! I'm not going to lie- I'm not new to this sport, but I seemed like it my first few matches using this. This takes some getting used to, but once you get that spin down...OOOH WEE!I feel like I have most definitely advanced to another level in my play with this paddle. I feel like I now have the finesse that the big boys have. Sure, this cost some coins, but if you are an experienced player looking to up your game, this might be the paddle for you.
It's a nice pickle ball racket. Is it worth the price? Hard to say.
